Why retailers source sapphires from Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has supplied sapphires for centuries, and Ceylon blue is still one of the most requested colours in bridal and fine jewelry. The island also produces pink, yellow, padparadscha and white sapphire.

Working with a Sri Lankan sapphire supplier directly usually means better access to that range. It also means stock kept in notebooks, chat groups and private spreadsheets, which is the problem this network is built to solve.

How a supplier listing works here

Every sapphire supplier keeps inventory in the same Google Sheets template: stone identity, carat weight, millimetre dimensions, colour, treatment, origin, certificate, price, five photos and a video.

Rows are imported about hourly. A row with missing or contradictory data is quarantined and returned to the supplier with the exact field to fix, so nothing reaches the catalog half described.

Heated, unheated and certified

Treatment is shown as heated, unheated or not stated, and supplier reported claims are labelled separately from laboratory documented ones. An unheated claim without a report stays marked as supplier reported until a certificate is attached.

Buying at trade prices

Approved retail accounts see one price per stone in US dollars. A reservation locks the stone at once, the supplier confirms possession, and only then does it become an order.
